What's a Poke to do when he's too popular to take that laid back sloth lifestyle? Franchise! Poky arrived in the nick of time to manage an American sloth home, and was the first commissioned Je Suis Lugly! A gardening sloth may not be the first image that springs to mind, but Dylan would like to do his bit to make that image jump a little higher! Dylan would love that simple, green, gardening life...
Whitaker was made from the most beautiful silky Schulte mohair, and in my minds eye had a truly refined personality to match his upper class physique! Ataro- the first truly accesorised sloth! As an adventurer inspired by my looming trip to South Africa, I designed Ataro a red clock in the colours of the Masai tribesmen, with a gorgeous Tissavel faux fur hood trim. She looks so stylish I'll have to do it again sometime!
Roux was the first Je Suis Lugly bear ever to be auctioned, and found his new home in America in March 2008. A loveable, yet slightly portly chap, Roux was named after the infamous gypsy in 'Chocolat' by Joanne Harris- I think he'd like to think he lives up to Johnny Depp's portrayal! Liebe is the Sloth of Love. His was the first Papoose sized Sloth to be auctioned, and sold in time for valentines day to a new home in England! His gorgeous mohair was lovely to work with- I wish i could buy more!
Poke is original Sloth. There's no two ways about it, I am informed, because even though there is actually a Sloth before him (B.P. - Before Poke)he is still just a head, fondly referred to as Head Sloth. Poke made his debut in September at Hugglets in London, when he travelled with his creator and her terrified friend to London and got to meet many truly enviablly talented people who shook him by the claw and said 'how-do-you-do'. Currently Poke's residence is his creators bedroom, where he hangs from a CD rack looking very superior but also slightly bemused. Fate, eh? Tedward's the one who started it all! Adapted from a kit from Bear Basics, you can blame him for all subsequent Lugly's- it's his fault! I gave him to my Mother on Mothering Sunday, 2007.
Naira was the first Lugly EVER to be auctioned, for the Lemonade Bears Benefit in September 2007. Her final value was donated to researching childhood leukaemia, and Naira went off to live with her new owner in America, safe and sound.
